Fluoride
Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making teeth more resistant to decay. Fluoride occurs naturally in all water sources. Community water fluoridation means adjusting the fluoride content of water to the recommended level that's best for dental health. If you don't know the fluoride level in your water, your drinking water should be tested before you look for other fluoride options. Your local or state health department can test your water. For more information about the oral health benefits of fluoride, just ask your dentist. 7
