Gingivitis

Gingivitis is the beginning stage of periodontal disease. It is less severe and reversible with proper care. Gingivitis only affects the gums, but can lead to more harmful stages of periodontal disease, called periodontitis.

Most people don’t realize how important it is to take care of their gums. Gingivitis is caused by the bacteria in plaque that attacks the gums. Symptoms of gingivitis include red, swollen gums and possible bleeding when you brush.7

If you have any of these symptoms, see a dentist as soon as possible.
