Dentists may spot early warning signs such as, dentures becoming loose, or ill-fitting dentures that lead to mouth sores, and difficulty speaking or eating.
Dentures
Dentures are important for eating, speaking and support, so it is important to take care of them.
Remove your dentures over a soft surface or sink full of water. Dentures can break if dropped.
Rinse away loose food particles.
Moisten your brush. Use a brush designed for cleaning dentures or a toothbrush with soft bristles.
Apply denture cleanser to your brush. You can also use hand soap or mild dishwashing liquid.
Brush every surface of your dentures, scrubbing gently.
Rinse your dentures.
Store your dentures in a denture soaking solution or in water.
When you use your dentures, don’t “bite” them into place. This can damage the tissue supporting the dentures. Instead, seat them with finger and thumb pressure.
Ask your dentist if you have any questions about the best way to take care of your dentures. Continue your regular dental checkups to ensure your dentures continue to fit properly. 19
